2025 BMW X3 Specs

One of the big differences for the 2025 BMW X3 is that every model is now only available in BMW’s AWD, also known as xDrive. This year, there are two trim levels with very different specs. Although both have an eight-speed automatic transmission, the engine powering them is worth considering.

The Motorsport imprint is back and stronger than ever with the M TwinPower Turbo 6-cylinder engine, which has 393 horsepower. It has that remarkable, aggressive, full-throated sound. Thanks to the 48V mild hybrid technology, it goes 0-60 in 4.4 seconds.

Next is a 2.0-liter BMW TwinPower Turbo inline 4-cylinder engine pushing 255 horsepower, which goes 0-60 in 6.0 sec. Although you sacrifice speed, this weaker engine makes up for it in efficiency. You get 33 MPG instead of 30.

Step inside the new X3, and you’ll feel like you’ve jumped into the future. BMW has outdone itself with this fourth-generation model. The cabin has a modern, clean look that’s easy on the eyes. The seats are comfortable, with new heated and cooled power-adjustable Sports seats up front. You can choose from three colors for the leatherette seats or go for real leather or suede if you want to fancy it up.

Another new option is the Woven Textile Dashboard, which is made from high-quality vegan materials and looks super sleek. If you want to set the mood, the X3 has ambient lighting in 15 colors. Just use the BMW Interaction Bar to pick your favorite.

Some of the biggest changes for this year are on the exterior. Yes, BMW has done well with the all-new X3 body style! First, the X3 is bigger overall, as made apparent by its longer wheelbase. That gives it a more commanding presence on the road.

The front grille (BMW calls it the Kidney Grille) has been tweaked a bit. It now has cool contour lighting that makes it stand out even more. At the back, you’ll notice new double L-shaped taillights. And up front, there are some fancy double-light signature headlights.

If you want to customize your ride further, you can choose from wheels ranging from 19 to 21 inches. Pick your favorite size, style, and color to make your X3 truly yours. And speaking of colors, you can choose from 10 eye-catching metallic paint options.

A top-of-the-line Beamer like this wouldn’t be complete without the technology to match. For 2025, BMW has completely revamped the infotainment system for the X3.

The big change for this year is the all-new iDrive 9 infotainment system. It’s the first time the X3 has gotten this upgrade, and it delivers on all fronts. With the optional BMW Digital Premium package, you can even play games or watch TV shows. Through one app, you get access to loads of streaming services.

All of this happens on a massive 14.9″ curved display. Finally, there’s voice control. Simply speak to take control of your BMW. The voice-activated BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant is another neat addition. And with every interaction, it gets smarter.

What if your car knew your favorite parking spot and could park itself there automatically? With the 2025 BMW X3, that’s not just a dream anymore. The new Parking Assistant Professional Package can do just that. Use it for work, home, or even public parking spots. It’s just one driver-assist feature that makes the BMW X3 safer (and more fun) to drive.

It also includes automated lane change. When you activate your turn signal, the X3 will change lanes for you when it’s safe to do so. Crowd favorites are back, like adaptive cruise control with traffic-light recognition.

Here is the more affordable X3 option. It’s great for those who want luxury without breaking the bank, and it has the most fuel-efficient engine out of the two. On the outside, you’ll get 19″ wheels and enjoy a nice Satin Aluminum trim, including on the roof rails.

Inside, you’ll find front sports seats with heating functionality and that Sky Lounge Panoramic sunroof we talked about earlier. On the tech front, it comes standard with the BMW Operating System 9 with that big 14.9″ curved display. It works wirelessly with both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

 This is the Motorsport version of the xDrive30, but it does so much more than just tune up the engine. You’ll find the M logo throughout the cabin, where you also get precise Variable Sport Steering and the M leather steering wheel with a sporty flat base. It also features M-specific aerodynamic components and other sporty enhancements for performance. Go for this trim level if you want the M Sport Differential and Adaptive M Suspension.

The exterior appearance was designed by BMW M, which has four exhaust pipes. It has those signature M exterior mirrors that we love and a black diffuser that matches the black air inlets at the front. And if you look inside the 21-inch Jet Black wheels, you’ll find M sport Brakes with the M logo on high-gloss red calipers. Style and function!

The 2025 BMW X3 isn’t necessarily the first vehicle that comes to mind when considering towing, but it can handle quite a bit. You might be surprised to learn that the BMW X3 xDrive30 can tow up to 4,001 pounds, and the BMW X3 M50 can tow up to 4,850 lbs. For reference, many small SUVs can typically tow around 1,500-3,500 lbs.

Should I get the xDrive30 or the M50 for the BMW X3?

It really depends on what’s most important to you. Do you want more power and sportier features? Go for the M50. If you’re more concerned about price and fuel efficiency, the xDrive30 might be your best bet. Both have all-wheel drive and similar tech features.

What does xDrive mean?

One thing that BMW held onto for a long time was rear-wheel drive, which gave drivers a different driving experience. For this year, rear-wheel drive is no longer available. All models are on BMW’s xDrive all-wheel drive system.
