2026 BMW iX Maintenance Schedule

Battery Care & Service Intervals.

One of the primary benefits of switching to a 2026 BMW iX is the dramatic reduction in maintenance requirements. Without an internal combustion engine, there are no oil changes, spark plugs, or timing belts to replace. However, “low maintenance” does not mean “no maintenance.”

To keep your iX performing flawlessly on Milwaukee roads, specific systems, particularly tires, brakes, and cooling circuits, require attention. BMW of Milwaukee North is your authorized center for EV service, staffed by High-Voltage (HV) Certified Technicians.

The BMW iX Service Schedule.

Unlike gas vehicles with 5,000 or 10,000-mile intervals, the iX uses a Condition Based Service (CBS) system that monitors the vehicle’s health. Generally, the iX requires a check-up every 2 years, regardless of mileage.

Every 2 Years.

Brake Fluid Flush: Brake fluid absorbs moisture over time, which can lower its boiling point and corrode the braking system. This must be flushed bi-annually.

Cabin Microfilter: To ensure clean air inside the cabin, the microfilter is replaced to trap dust, pollen, and road debris.

Vehicle Check: A comprehensive inspection of the suspension, steering, wiper blades, and high-voltage cabling.

As Needed (Wear & Tear).

2026 BMW IX rim and tire Tires: EV tires carry more weight and deliver instant torque, often leading to faster wear than gas cars. We recommend rotating tires (if square setup) every 5,000–7,000 miles to extend their life.

Brakes: Thanks to regenerative braking, the physical brake pads on an iX can last 70,000 miles or more. However, because they are used less frequently, the rotors can sometimes develop surface rust if not “cleaned” by occasional firm braking.

Wiper Blades: Inspect annually and replace when streaking occurs.

High-Voltage Battery Care.

The 100+ kWh battery in your iX is designed to last the life of the vehicle. It is covered by an 8-year / 100,000-mile warranty. To maximize battery health:

Daily Charging: Set your charge limit to 80% for daily driving. Only charge to 100% for long road trips.

Pre-Conditioning: In winter, use the My BMW App to “pre-condition” (warm up) the battery while plugged in before you leave. This preserves range and battery health.

BMW Ultimate Care for EVs.

Every new 2026 BMW iX comes with BMW Ultimate Care, covering scheduled maintenance for 3 years or 36,000 miles. Since the iX has fewer service needs, this primarily covers the vehicle checks, brake fluid, and microfilters.

You can purchase Ultimate Care+ to add coverage for wear-and-tear items like wiper blades and brake pads, giving you total peace of mind.

Why Choose BMW of Milwaukee North for EV Service?

Servicing an iX requires specialized equipment and safety gear. Our facility features dedicated EV lifts and our technicians hold specific certifications to handle high-voltage systems safely. Do not trust your advanced electric vehicle to a general mechanic.
