2026 BMW 7 Series FAQ

Your Questions Answered

The 2026 BMW 7 Series is unique in the luxury world. Unlike competitors that force you to choose between a “legacy” gas chassis or a “futuristic” electric pod, BMW built one perfect flagship that offers both.

This “Power of Choice” philosophy is brilliant, but it can be confusing. Below, our team at BMW of Milwaukee North answers the most common questions we receive from Glendale and River Hills clients.

Engines & Powertrain

Is the 2026 BMW 7 Series electric?

It depends on the model. The 7 Series is available in three distinct powertrain types:

Gas (ICE): The 740i (inline-6) and 760i (V8) run on gasoline.

Electric (EV): The i7 eDrive50, i7 xDrive60, and i7 M70 are 100% electric.

Plug-in Hybrid (PHEV): The 750e xDrive combines a gas engine with an electric motor for short-range EV driving.

What is the range of the 2026 BMW i7?

Range varies by trim and wheel size, but EPA estimates are generally:

i7 eDrive50: Up to 321 miles.

i7 xDrive60: Up to 317 miles.

i7 M70: Up to 291 miles.

Note: Winter driving in Milwaukee will reduce these figures. We recommend installing a Level 2 home charger for daily peace of mind.

Does the 2026 7 Series still have a V12 engine?

No. The V12 engine was retired with the previous generation. The top gas engine is now the 4.4-liter TwinPower Turbo V8 in the 760i xDrive, which produces 536 hp, matching the performance of older V12s with far better efficiency.

Features & Technology

Is the 31-inch Theater Screen standard?

No, it is part of the optional Rear Executive Lounge Seating Package. This package typically costs around $7,250 (depending on other options) and includes the screen, reclining rear seats, and executive console.

Can I drive the 2026 7 Series hands-free?

Yes, if equipped with the Driving Assistance Professional Package. The “Highway Assistant” allows for hands-free driving at speeds up to 85 mph on controlled-access highways (like I-43), provided you keep your eyes on the road.

Do the doors open automatically?

Yes. The optional Automatic Doors open and close with the push of a button, voice command, or even via the My BMW App. Sensors ensure they won’t swing open into traffic or a nearby parked car.

Pricing & Production

How much does the 2026 BMW 7 Series cost?

Pricing is subject to change, but base MSRPs generally start at:

740i: ~$96,400

i7 eDrive50: ~$105,700

760i xDrive: ~$121,300

i7 M70: ~$168,500

Where is the 2026 7 Series made?

All 2026 7 Series models (gas and electric) are built at BMW Plant Dingolfing in Germany, the company’s flagship factory for luxury models.

Still undecided?

The best way to choose between the V8 rumble and the EV silence is to drive them back-to-back. Schedule your comparison test drive at BMW of Milwaukee North today.
