Performance-wise, the 2023 BMW X5 comes equipped with a turbo 3.0-liter, six-cylinder gas engine that produces 335 horsepower, along with an eight-speed automatic transmission and adaptive suspension dampers. There are also options for a V8, turbo 4.4-liter, 523-horsepower system, and a plug-in hybrid system that delivers a total of 389 horsepower. For the 2024 model year, both gas engines have been updated with mild-hybrid technology. The standard six-cylinder engine now produces 375 horsepower, and the V8 engine’s horsepower remains unchanged. The plug-in hybrid system has also been retooled and now boasts a total of 483 combined horsepower.

In terms of appearance, the 2024 X5 has undergone some noticeable improvements. While the 2023 model features strong, angled accents through the hood and sides, the 2024 X5 boasts smoother, linear undulations throughout the body and light molding. The front has been completely restyled with two arrow-shaped LED bars in the headlights and a pair of tall gills below them. Additionally, the lower fascia has a three-sided accent bar for extra differentiation.

When it comes to features, several new ones will be introduced for the 2024 model year, including hands-free highway driving assistance, iDrive eight infotainment technology, and a curved central display screen. The X5’s other features are offered for both model years and include leather upholstery, a Harman Kardon audio system, massaging and heated front seats, automated parking, emergency stop assist, a surround-view camera, a four-zone climate control system, rear window shades, embedded lights in the panoramic sunroof, a wireless internet hotspot, a wireless charging pad, remote engine start, an optional third row of seats, a head-up display, and many more.
