Serving Milwaukee, WI

Deciding which 2022 BMW sedan to take home is easier said than done. At BMW of Milwaukee North, our customers often inquire about the differences between the 3 Series and the 5 Series. The 3 Series has more compact dimensions than the midsize 5 Series as a small luxury sedan. However, this is only one of their notable differences. Our BMW sales associates are available to support your comparison of these two luxurious options.

Performance

A variety of powertrains are offered in these two BMW sedans. One of the engines for the 3 Series is a turbocharged four-cylinder unit that provides you with 255 horsepower. The alternatives for the 3 Series are a turbo hybrid that produces 288 net horsepower and a turbo V6 engine that gives you 382 horsepower. The entry-level engine for the 5 Series, on the other hand, is a turbo four-cylinder that puts out 248 horsepower. The 5 Series is available with a turbo four-cylinder hybrid engine, and it gives you 288 net horsepower. Two additional engines are available. One is a 3.0-liter turbo V6 that offers 335 horsepower. The top engine offered for the 5 Series is a 4.4-liter turbo V8 that puts out 523 horsepower.

Appearance

The 3 Series and the 5 Series have some shared design traits, but they stand apart beautifully. The 3 Series has a smaller stance with a flowing profile. The nose holds a chrome-accented, segmented grille and scalloped LED headlights. The smooth side contours are angled slightly, and a crisp accent runs through the lower side panels. The 5 Series stands more upright to establish a sense of confidence. It has the same grille shape as the 3 Series, but the grille is more extensive. Its scalloped LED headlights have sharp corners. In addition, its side panel accents run more horizontally.

Features

Both the 3 Series and 5 Series are well-appointed with desired equipment. In the 3 Series, you will find connected technologies, a navigation system, heated seats, simulated leather upholstery, smart device integration, a 10-speaker sound system, a 12.3-inch digital instrumentation screen, a 10.1-inch screen for the infotainment system, and a few other features. The 5 Series builds on these features by adding a remote engine start, heated rear seats, a heads-up display, a powered rear sunshade, a 16-speaker sound system, and more driver’s assist features.
