2025 BMW 550e xDrive PHEV

The luxurious BMW 5 Series recently inspired the all-electric i5 sedan. The 2025 5 Series is also now available with a new plug-in hybrid trim level. This new option in the lineup is known as the BMW 550e xDrive PHEV. The previous generation’s 530e PHEV is no longer available.
If you opt for the 2025 BMW 550e xDrive PHEV, your new sedan will be powered by a six-cylinder gas engine connected to an electric motor. This plug-in powertrain system produces 483 combined horsepower and is linked to an eight-speed auto transmission. It has a larger battery than the previous 530e PHEV, supporting an all-electric range of 40 miles.
Overall, the 550e xDrive PHEV’s design and features are comparable to those of the 2024 5 Series. This midsize sedan is characterized by a lean, arched profile and decadently sculpted sides. At the front, the angled LED headlights have a winglike look and sit above triangular grooves. The chrome-outlined, kidney-style grille uniquely has a subtly squared-off look.
This PHEV will be outfitted with a wireless charging pad, a dual-zone auto climate control system, a digital instrument panel, a Harman Kardon sound system, an integrated navigation system, a 14.9-inch touch display screen, forward collision mitigation, lane keeping, and a blind-spot system. Options include heated front and rear seats, remote start, a heated steering wheel, a head-up display, parking assistance, and others.
