What’s New for the 2022 BMW iX?
If you have been waiting for the perfect time to upgrade to a green SUV, that time has arrived. In 2022, BMW is introducing its iX to Milwaukee-area drivers. The iX is a compact crossover SUV similar in size to the popular X5 crossover, and it is BMW’s first-ever all-electric SUV. The iX is distinguished with a tall, segmented grille that sinks to the front fascia’s bottom and narrow, angled headlights. In addition, this model has prominent haunches with smoothly rounded surfaces over the sides and hood.
Inside, this crossover is distinctly modern with a clean, floating dashboard design. The primary feature on the dashboard is a contiguous, curved display screen that holds the driver’s digital gauges and the all-new iDrive infotainment system. The seats are available in cloth, faux suede, imitation leather, and authentic leather. The cabin is designed to be ultra-quiet, and some synthetic noises are available through a specialized sound system. The seats, steering wheel, armrests, and glove compartment are all heated. Additional interior features in the 2022 iX are an iDrive steering wheel, a touch controller pad, voice controls, smart device integration, and more. The assistive technologies include adaptive cruise control, lane keep assist, automated parking assist, and other advanced features.
The 2022 BMW iX is available with one trim level, and this is the xDrive50. It gives you both front and rear-mounted electric motors, and these combine to deliver 516 combined horsepower. With these engines, the iX can jet you up to 62 miles per hour in 4.6 seconds. The battery has a range of 300 miles. Its fast-charging function can replenish the battery up to 80 percent power in only 35 minutes. Computer-controlled brakes enhance regenerative capabilities.

1. The iX maximum AC charging rate of 11 kW results in a 0-100% charge in less than 11 hours. With the BMW Wallbox (9.6 kW), a full charge can be completed in under 12 hours. In typical situations where the battery is not at 0% charge when charging starts, overnight charging will easily result in a full charge.
