2020 BMW X2 vs 2020 BMW X3

Serving Milwaukee, WI

The BMW X3 was introduced in 2004, and this compact luxury crossover has become increasingly popular with drivers in Milwaukee over the years. The X2 debuted only two years ago as a subcompact luxury crossover SUV, and it sits between the X1 and the X3 in the current BMW lineup. At BMW of Milwaukee North, our knowledgeable sales reps want you to feel confident about your next SUV purchase, and we are excited to help you compare these two popular models.

Two powertrains are available for the 2020 BMW X2. One is a TwinPower Turbo 2.0-liter, I4 engine that produces 228 horsepower. It is connected to STEPTRONIC eight-speed auto transmission, and it features sport and manual driving modes. The top engine is an M Performance variation, and its transmission adds Launch Control and steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters. This powertrain produces 301 horsepower. The 2020 BMW X3 is offered in four trim levels. The first two trim levels carry the same entry-level powertrain and drivetrain, as you will find in the BMW X2. The third trim has a 3.0-liter, TwinPower Turbo V6 powertrain with xDrive that delivers 382 horsepower. This trim level also has all-wheel drive and the same eight-speed auto transmission. The top-of-the-line X3 for 2020 is a hybrid engine that produces 288 combined horsepower.

The exterior styling of these two crossover SUVs is noticeably different. The X2 has a lower profile with a more substantial angle down the hood. The sides have a scoop that becomes increasingly sharp as it fades to the rear. A thin, body-colored piece separates the black grille. The headlights uniquely flare out slightly as they fade to the rear, and they feature multiple elements for a dramatic effect. In comparison, the 2020 BMW X3 has a taller cabin and a modest angle down the hood. The grille is more extensive and has chrome accents. The headlights have a comparable design, but they do not flare out. The X3's lower-front fascia has unique styling with three distinctive parts and a dual-tone color scheme.

The X2 and X3 share many interior features. These include Sensatec upholstery, an 8.8-inch touch display screen, HD Radio, a navigation system, a HiFi sound system, Bluetooth connectivity, and others. The 2020 BMW X3 adds a few standard features, and some of these are galvanic control and an expanded Check Control system.
